| no partners | | Stuck at home this weekend, I decided to do something, and a quick pre-dawn Camelback trip seemed like it wouldn't be too hot. Got out of the house at 5, and started hiking at 5:20. It was warm and humid, and the sweat was pouring right away. I knew I wouldn't make the summit by the 5:53 sunrise, but it was close, and I managed to get a couple of photos.
Made good time to the top, and took a break and enjoyed a couple of slices of cold pizza before heading back down. Not surprisingly, there were a fair number of people up there for sunrise, and I passed many more making their way up on my way back down.
It was actually nicer out once the sun came up, since the heating created some very nice breezes on the mountain. But by the time I got to the bottom again, the breezes had stopped and it was just hot and muggy again.
On the actual trail portion (not the road hike back and forth to the car) I did 38 minutes up and 29 down. Not my best, but it's been a whole lot slower before too! |
