Haven't been feeling well for over a week. Back is good, but I have just been dragging. Finally, today, the weather was just too nice and I literally forced myself to get out of the house. I figured if I picked a strenous Hike, maybe it would shake off whatever"s bugging me and I would start feeling better. Camelback has been haunting me every time I walk out the back door, so the choice was a no brainer.... ;)

Weeellll, didn't quite work out that way. Started up the Trail and was just dragging, with a sour stomach, almost to the point of nausea. It was warm and of course, the Breeze that I had felt at the House was non-existent here. Got to the 14 mark and got passed by the Fire Department. They stopped a couple of hundred feet further up and were attending to an older woman that had fallen and broke her wrist.... :( They must have walked her down, because I never saw any Air Support.

I ended up taking some longer than normal breaks on the way up, just feeling like s***. I almost turned around a couple of times, but my Thick-headed Stubborness just wouldn't have it. I hate not finishing what I've started, so I pressed on and finally made the Summit. Took another long break here and was thoroughly entertained by a Butterfly who landed on my hand and didn't want to leave. Shades of the Butterfly Whisperer.... :)

I was feeling better at the Summit after downing a liter of Gatorade and actually made fairly decent time coming down. This was only the second time I've done Camelback and the first time from Cholla. I was not familiar with the Trail, but if I went wrong, it wasn't by much. It was kinda hard to get too off Track, with tons of signs, blue paint and just sheer exposure steering you in the right direction....

Got down, got home and feel ok. I'm glad I got out and got the workout I did, even though some of it was a little miserable. My time is atrocious, but I guess it beats the 0.00 time at home....Not alot of people today, I was surprised, but happy about that....I'll be back to do this one again and should be able to push it harder next time.... :)
