The alarm hurt a little bit. But otherwise, it was a beautiful morning in the mid 70s! After a night of rain, the trail was slick and muddy in places. But as the morning light illuminated the valley, the views were stunning. The air is so clear after rain! The White Tanks were not just visible, but a couple of ranges west of them were in plain view too. There was still some rain off to the east, and fog settled into the far southeast valley.
The mountain was green! The Palo Verdes were bright and vibrant, and the red rocks were covered with bright green algae or lichen or something, soaking up the moisture. There were even two small streams of water running off the rock face! Overall, a perfect morning to experience Camelback in a different way.
A little slow going on the wet rocks, 40 minutes up, and 35 down. Oh, and one Joe sighting along the way! |
