Oh Boy! Another Water Hike! :y: :sl: Brian had never been there and wanted to go, and since I missed alot of the Creek on my last Hike a few weeks ago, I wasn't going to say no.... :D Got up at 4:30 and it was raining at the house. Looked at the weather and it didn't look too promising for the Rim area, but I figured what's the difference, we are going to end up getting wet one way or another, either from the Rain or the Swimming... :)

It was pretty cool still when we got to the TH. Still high 60s with heavy Overcast. If it stays like this, we may rethink the Swimming... :( Decided to do the Trail a little different, than when I came down it last time. This was about seeing the Creek so we turned right on the little "Spur" and took the Human Game Trail that stayed down at the actual Creek. There were places where the "Trail" disappeared somewhat, but we were both dressed for Wading and Swimming, so when that happened, we would just Wade the Creek up...

What a Great Creek! Waterfalls, Cascades, and Deep Pools galore with Wildflowers, Clouds of Butterflies, Mushrooms, and Green throughout...And since it was a weekday, only 4 people on the Trail all day!!! : app : One couple on the way in, with a young, "Blue" Weimeraner off leash. They were very courteous though and held the Dog when they saw us. I told them to let him go, since it was very apparent that he wanted to say an enthusiastic hello. And I'll never turn down visiting with a friendly Dog. 8) The only other 2 people seen were two guys headed up the Trail as we were going back down. I would say for such a popular Hike as this, we had complete solitude for 99% of the Hike!!! :y:

Just had a great day. We got sprinkled on just a bit later in the morning and it stayed pretty heavy overcast for most of the Hike. The Sun did come out and stayed during the later part, but I'm sure that area had to have gotten nailed sometime in the evening, as the Clouds that were building, when we left, were huge and menacing....Never got any Swimming in, as it just wasn't quite warm enough to do that, but enjoyed the Wading immensely, the Water was a nice Temp.

I can tell you that taking the "other" Trail instead of the Main Horton Creek Trail, will add on the Mileage, probably due to all the twists and turns of the Creek. We didn't make the Spring, as Brian was on a Timeline, but at our turnaround point, we had gone 4.9 Miles according to Brian's GPS. We got on the Main Trail and took it back down, and it was only roughly 2 3/4 Miles back to the Car. We made the Car in an hour. Sure was much nicer doing this Trail when it was dry. You can certainly go quite a bit faster.... :)

Another awesome Water Hike. I can see why Horton Creek is so popular and I can only imagine what it's like in the Fall.... :FG: I can pretty much predict that this will be a regular Hike for me. It's a pretty special place....Thanks for Hiking with me, Brian. Glad you were finally able to take a day and join me, it's been awhile! Looking forward to the next one! :GB:
