HAZ - Event
Decided after all the rain this morning, that Camp Creek Falls had to be running...This is a nice, short drive, so it was the Perfect place to me to go check out. Got to the TH at a little after 5:00 P.M.

Started walking down the first Wash and into the Slot. Wow! Had thought about going earlier in the day, but after seeing the aftermath of the Washes, I'm glad I didn't. I probably would not have been able to Hike this earlier. This Wash, very clearly had had Water running Wall to Wall, especially in the Slot and there was still a little Flow. I could actually hear the Water before I saw it, and found Water still coming down a large Rock area and trickling down the Wash. The Sand in this area was still very saturated in spots and I sank down almost to my knees in a couple of places. The good news is...The Horse Carcass that has been in the Slot for several years has completely disappeared. Apparently, it finally washed out of there. Not a sign of it to be found.... : app :

Another surprise when I arrived at Blue Wash. There was a Creek running at the intersection. :GB: The previous two times I have been here, this area was always dry, with the Water not making an appearance until you were almost at the Falls. And it was very apparent here as well, that Blue Wash, as wide as it is, was also running Wall to Wall earlier. Now that must have been quite the sight! In fact, the main Channel for this runoff was right up against the Wash you were coming from and the Water must have been running really hard, as it eroded the bottom of Blue Wash pretty deep. I actually had to step down almost 2 feet to get into Blue Wash. Before, you just walked from one Wash, into the other.... :o

Now I'm excited! I wade up Blue Wash to the last bend before the Falls and I can really hear the Falls rumbling... Before, I could wade all the way up to the Falls Pool, but not today. It was too deep in places and I had to take the Horse Path on the north edge. Even that path was an obstacle course, as there was fresh debris everywhere....

The Falls were gushing and you could certainly tell that it was all runoff at this point. The Water was pretty brown still. Judging from the amount of Debris and Pools I was seeing, that whole Rock area at the Falls had to have been one giant Fall this morning and this little Canyon had also run Wall to Wall. That would have been something to see, but you could have never gotten in to see it.... ;)

Took a bunch of pics and headed back out pretty quickly. It was still a heavy overcast and it was making darkness come alot quicker. I wanted to be through the Slot before complete darkness as I didn't have a light with me and Snakes kind of like that area....

Before I even got to the Slot, it started to sprinkle again, but it never really turned into Rain until I was back out to the Car. Walking through the Washes was the easiest that it has ever been, due to the wet, packed Sand...Nice Sunset over Cave Creek and Carefree on the way home.... :)

I will be back again, without a doubt, this is such a Cool Area so close by. Next time though, I may be in exploring mode, just to see what I can see.... :D

Here's a short video for an appetizer until I can get the pics up... http://youtu.be/49H4VB8-bAw
