This was a great hike and this section of the West Pinto Trail is in fantastic condition. We first located the cabin site where it appears someone had made an attempt to rebuild the cabin which burned down, but the crude structure looks like it has been empty for some time now. The corral is mostly still in tact along with the water trough. After taking some photos we headed back down the creek to find the benchmark and with a little luck, Ryan walked right up to it. We had lunch near the creek/trail crossing then headed back to the trailhead. We saw no other hikers the whole day and we were the only vehicle parked at the trailhead.
We will definitely be back to do some more exploring along this trial. |
