| no partners | | I have enjoyed the last 6 years that I have spent in Arizona, but its time to move on. I just got a job offer in Portland, OR and will be moving out there at the end of this month. Although there are many amazing hikes still left in AZ that I have yet to complete- I have always been fascinated by the story of the Lost Dutchman Mine and Weaver's Needle. So after putting in my two week notice at work, I drove up to the Superstitions.
After arriving at the trailhead, I realized I had to forgot to load my camera with a memory card! I jumped back into my truck, rushed up the highway to the closest Walgreens to purchase a card, then drove back. The hike up canyon was enjoyable and most of the pools of water were frozen over with a thick layer of ice.
When I arrived at Fremont Saddle, the Needle was brilliantly lit by the setting sun. I started to set up my tripod, only to realize I had left the mounting plate for my camera at home- making the whole tripod worthless. I hung out for close to 30 minutes as the sun set, watching the light on the Needle slowly fade before I headed back down canyon. |
