Awesome loop hike up Peralta to Fremont Saddle, across to the Weaver's Overlook, then back down via the Cave trail, hooking up with the Bluff Spring Trail back to the trailhead.
Up to Fremont was a good workout, gets a little steeper towards the end, but nothing too crazy. The Hoodoos are very cool. There is one neat boulder on the way with a big natural hole in it; this is probably the eye I read about somewhere. Great views at the top of the Saddle, but a little chilly with the cold breeze. We decided to hike out to 'The Tree', the one lone pinon pine out there, where we hung out for a nice break and enjoyed the spectacular views.
The Cave Trail is a little dicey in some places and having some route finding skills comes in handy. There is a trail, but it gets lost in some places, especially when you have to cross over some flat slanted granite. But there are cairns around and we were usually able to see one to help us get in the right direction. Speaking of cairns, there is a spot on the side of the mountain, not quite a cave, more like a large recess, that you pass, that has about 50 cairns all in bunch that was pretty neat. Then more scrambling and sliding down in the general direction of the trailhead, sometimes on, sometimes off the trail. The last mile or so is pretty easy to follow, but it's almost straight down (well, not straight down, but you know...), very rapid descent. I couldn't imagine coming up that way, unless I was in super shape.
Overall, fantastic hike, must do it again soon.
