The New Year has been pretty brutal, so I was very overdue for a getaway and made plans for the "where and when". I made plans for my destinations, but not necessarily what I was going to do when I got there, except for one day...(Different Triplog). I was completely winging the rest of it...Didn't care what I did, just needed to go...I scheduled the trip for 8 nights/9 days. I ended up reversing the plans since the beginning looked like it was going to going to be very poor weatherwise, thus making sleeping in the back of car not a very enticing option...I opted to stay in a nice, heated cabin at Roper Lake for 3 nights and harass the local HAZer and now, Park Ranger, there.... :D

And so, on this day, it began...What an incredible drive down there!!! :D Rain, Sun, Waterfalls, and Rainbows! Wow! :y: Queen Creek was gushing along Highway 60...Didn't stop, but made a mental note of it... :D The Sun kept trying to come out, and after a deluge in Globe, it came out again pretty strong while I was driving through the San Carlos Reservation. And the Rainbows came... :) As I left the Reservation, the Sun tried to disappear and the rain started again...It was intermittent Rain and Sun the rest of the way. As I drove through Pima, I was treated to a very cool Double Rainbow with the lower one almost flat with the Horizon...And the Rainbows continued, even as I got to the Park and unpacked....

Met up with Chad and although it was trying to clear, it kept wanting to at least drizzle, so we opted to do a quick short Hike to round out the rest of the day...It was pretty cold down there and when we got back it was still trying to Rain, so no Campfire, but I had a very nice, warm place to sleep... :)

The next day, it had cleared up and you could see some nice, fresh Snow on the Pinalenos. It was extremely cold and windy however, so Chad and I opted for a Scenic Drive in an area that we've both been wanting to see and explore for quite some time. A few short Hikes in this area were possibly planned as well...Returned that night and it was still very windy and cold, so no Fire again, but was sooooo glad for the warm Cabin.... : app :

Wednesday, the Weather was finally pretty nice and while Chad was working, I explored around the Lake. Chad got done with work and we went over to Discovery Park. After the Hike, I finally got to have a nice Campfire and felt comfortable enough to stay outside and watch the Moon rise over the Lake... :)

So glad I opted for the Cabin during this period of Weather, it was awesome. It was another great stay, with some very cool Scenery and Trips, but come Thursday morning, it was time to move on...So goodbye to Chad and the social Ducks that liked to visit me and away I went...Another nice Safford Trip in the books.... :D

To be continued...
