the first day we were in the area near red mountain, we hiked that. then southpawaz wanted to go fishing the next day and offered up parker canyon lake, where i could take a walkabout while he was fishing. we took the scenic mostly unpaved route down through duquesne and lochiel. i was really digging being so close to the border, so we took a closer look. i've been across the border many times, but i had never driven very close to the border without a border crossing nearby. very cool.

when we got to the lake, i promptly started my counterclockwise trek. i did want to take the longest and highest possible route, so i passed by the closest inlet cutoffs in search of the farthest ones. this did lead me on a bit of a wander at the first inlet, when the trail completely petered out at the crossing. i made my way back, and then proceeded to follow the trail - and the longest possible journey - the rest of the way around.

nice views of the lake. when i returned back to the fisherman, it was time to go. i was kind of hoping for a relaxing adult beverage while he was fishing and instead i downed a quick one before we made our way back to our harshaw road campsite in patagonia via the paved northern route (sonoita). it was that kind of a loopy day.
