There is an immense area around Apache Lake that begs to be Hiked. Some of which would require a boat to get to the other side...So tempting to rent one... :D For this day, however, I stayed on the south side, picking a Route that would allow some vast views of this long lake. And this Hike delivered! :y:

There are no Trails around this Lake so I just got on MapDex and manufactured my own. It turned out to be a pretty darn good Hike. I tried to get a Track of it on my Camera GPS, but although it did register, it was way off and not usable. So hopefully someone can make sense of my Description and get a Route for this, it's worth it.

The Bushwacking wasn't bad at all, I managed to find game trails most of the way up along one ridgeline to a high point, then down into a wash and up to Peak 2367. Awesome views the whole way. You actually "follow" the shoreline from high up, traversing the ridge west of the Peak. I ended up flushing two different White-tailed Deer on this Hike and saw the evidence of many more. This did not surprise me, as this area is full of Deer, with the Three Bar Wildlife Area just across the Lake.

It was mostly cloudy this day, so it never got too warm. If it had been just a bit warmer, I might have taken a dip in the Lake when I was done. This is one of the cleanest lakes in the chain and the water is awesome. I hadn't been down to the actual Lake in a long time, but have fished and water skied it many times in the past.

This area was covered in Brittlebush, which was a majority of the Flora that you were Hiking through. I only ran into one catclaw bush, knowing me, it was probably the only one in the whole area. Only a few of the Brittlebush were blooming, but boy, when they all take off, this area is going to be solid yellow, which may be now, as I write this.

Took lots of pictures for you guys to suffer through, but it was a cool day with incredible views and photo opportunities. Will return and do this Hike again and maybe take a nice, cool swim when it's over and who knows, I may just get a line wet too.... :D

PS...I generated a Route in RM showing what I did. Although it's not an actual GPS Track, it's a good representation of my Route. http://hikearizona.com/map.php?QX=2620
