| partners | | I had always wanted to do this hike. I went with several hiking pals, and met new hiking pals--all from Tucson.
It would be nice to stay down there two nights, or to do the swimpack downstream, but I'm glad I now have a sense of the place. It was my first hike in the Sierra Ancha. I have wanted to do more hiking in central Arizona, since I know so little of it, so this was a small start in that direction.
I have to admit the water was too cold for me to swim. Two of the gals braved the water and swam toward the "gate of Hell." We had a fly fisherman with us, too, and he caught fish after fish, and released them all.
We camped in the area between the two creeks. It's on a slight rise above the creeks. It was a nice big area for 9 of us. It has a bit of shade, which we needed.
Despite the weather forecast, I felt exactly one raindrop on my big toe. |
