| no partners | | Took the family camping for the weekend . It was beautiful up there . Got to Rock crossing campgounds at 7:30am Friday. We set up camp then went out exploring. The views from this camp ground are awesome and so are the restrooms!! By far the cleanest campground restrooms I've ever seen I was very suprised to find that we could have campfires so a lot of our free time was spent finding wood. There was no shortage of dead wood but we had to travel a ways to get it. Day 2 I took off South to hike to the reservoir. On the hike I came across some elk but not much else. At the waters edge was 30 yards of the most vicious plants I've ever seen, it seemed they had more thorns than leaves. I pushed through leaving a trail of blood and skin . Once at the waters edge I hiked East to the next valley then turned back North. In total I went a little over 2.5 miles. Once I got back to camp we started our fire and started relaxing but there was the sound of a helicopter in the background. So I went to check it out. He was working very hard to fight, what seemed to be a large fire. Not only did the fire seem large but it seem to be VERY close so we packed up and headed home. Even with the early departure it was a great weekend. |
