| no partners | | I rode my bike this morning, but I don't know where I went.....I don't know what the weather was like.....I don't know if the birds were singing.....Doug passed away last night.
I drove the 80 miles to visit with Doug yesterday for what I imagined would be the last time. When I arrived, I sat on the edge of his bed, took his hand and put my head next to his and whispered in his ear.
I told him how much I loved him. I told him that I was here for him. Then I told him that it was OK to let go and to free himself from the cancer that was causing all the pain and suffering.
I don't know if he was even aware of my presence beside him and that hurt, but I want to think that he knew and understood what I was saying. Sometime early this morning when nobody was aware, Doug passed from this life. |
