Oh Yeah, now that's what it's supposed to be like. The temp wasn't even 60 degrees when I set out at 0700 and the sun was shining behind some high clouds for a hazy start to the day :y:

There was no rain last night so I felt comfortable hitting the gravel roads in the Wildlife Area and only found a few water-filled pot holes along the way. After about an hour, the sun was burning it's way through the clouds and it was warming up pretty good, but it was bringing out the deer fly's too :tt:

I made frequent stops to observe the wildlife, saw a couple of deer with their new-born fawns at their side, but they're pretty skittish. The Snapping turtles that had laid their eggs only a week ago are now proud mama's as I saw the remnants of the egg shells where the nests had been. The young Canada Geese are getting bigger now and have lost their soft feathers already. There was Sand Hill Cranes fishing along the ponds and song birds flying everywhere.

I was able to do a little exploring but some of the roads had major puddles so I avoided them until they dry out and become navigable. The rains of the last several weeks have left the ponds filled to capacity so the river draining the ponds is at a high level. Sure had lots of fun out there today, but I've got lots of deer fly bites on my legs (scritch-sctitch-scritch)

Lots of the wildflowers have run their course by now.
