| partners | | When summer is over and you get that beautiful, cloudless day and the temperature is just perfect-- you do this little ritual:
You find the highest peak in the Mazzies (which just so happens to be Mazatzal Peak) and then you start hiking around it. Once you get about 3/4 of the way (after hiking up a canyon with two poorly poorly named waterfalls and traversing a nice yet overgrown section of the divide) your hiking partner stops and says-- "hey! Are you still interested in hitting the summit?" You see-- you had planted that idea the night before and mentioned it again in the morning with no real hopes of it actually happening-- though it has that "it'd be cool if it did vibe". So even though you had the awful idea of breaking in new shoes on a long hike in the Mazzies and now your left heel has a thick layer of gauze and band-aids taped to which feel like they aren't doing a bit of good-- what do you do?
You hit that summit. |
