We lleft from Phoenix Friday night and drove 4 hours to a campground near the trailhead of the East Baldy trail. Saturday morning we hiked up the East Baldy trail and connected with the West Baldy trail. Once we connected with the West Baldy trail we hiked a few more miles to come to some of the best backpacking campsites I have ever seen. The first day was around 10-12 miles with an elevation gain of 2000 feet. Sunday morning we hiked out the West Baldy trail to its trailhead and took the connector trail to connect us back up with the East Baldy trail which will added 3.5 miles to Sunday's hike.
This is a great hike to test your ability to handle high altitudes. It affects everyone differently. |
