Bruce threw together another winner. I'm not a fan of the rim road portion yet two sweet spots made the day!
From Christopher Creek at the See Cayon trailhead we took the Highline Trail #31 East to Drew Trail #291. Up to the Rim Road. Along the way we saw foliage peaking in the ravines and a little on the way up. Then the road back west to "See Spring Canyon" and follow it off-trail down to See Spring. This was the best part of the day. Colors poppin' all over. It was steep, fun, twisty and the weather was storybook. Two nice dryfalls added a nice touch!
We lunched in Herman Creek then headed up See Canyon Trail #184. Colors were very nice throughout. Next it was over to Horton Springs Trail #292 not to be confused with "Horton Creek" most hike. This drops off the rim and picks up speed before hitting Horton head on from the top. What made this special was perfect timing. The warm late afternoon light was magical on the already incredible vistas.
The sun set as we headed back on the Highline through better than expected foliage. The final four miles were under headlamp. The weather was incredible all day. Lots of campers but only 3 hikers on trail.
