| no partners | | Got a late start to my hike once again! Don't think I've had an early start in a year! Anyways made it to Carney trail head around 10:30am. A few cars parked there but saw no humans the entire hike. The temperature and sun were a factor. My dog was not happy after only 30 minutes. We took a long rest behind a boulder. Nice breeze in the shade. Soon we were run off by some angry bees and the hike continued onward. Most of the way I just let the dog go in front and he was leading. Don't know how he does it but he knew the way. Once we got closer to the cave there is loose gravel so be mindful of that for the last 1/4 mile of the trail. Once we reached the cave I was impressed by the size. The amount of bees inside was a little scary though. Really cool that you can hear all the bees buzzing around. Lots of wasps flying around too but I was more worried about bothering the thousands of bees! After a brief rest we made our way down. When we got closer to the car I noticed lots of sheriff SUV's, fire department etc heading towards the Peralta trailhead. Wonder what was happening? |
