Finally finished a brutal four week stretch at work...celebrated by hiking of course. Felt junky and moved slow. Didn't matter though, the desert is in full display like I've never seen.

There were more flowers along the way than I would ever have thought possible. Last monday I wrote up a trip for Safford Canyon to Peak 3263 in which I was amazed by all the orange flowers. I expected more of the same today, since Wasson Peak is a mere few miles from Sombrero. Instead the prevailing flower was a small purple one and there were tens of thousands of them. But there were many more too. All colors, all set on a greener desert background than I'm used too. The desert even had a floral smell to it today. Wow. If you have the means or the interest, I cannot recommend the Hugh Norris trail enough right now. It is awesome.
