| no partners | | Got my early morning wake up call, thanks brat! As we were talking I said "I'll check out to see if there's any....SNOW!!!"
I was bundled up and out with my boots on within 2 minutes.
Canyon is covered in snow/mist/fog whatever, trail crews were out clearing viewpoint paths, they were glad to see me and we chatted for a bit, the mules were blowing snow from their big nostrils, the top part of Bright Angel Trail is icy and covered in a light dusting of snow, definitely icy though! Found that out the hard way
Looking over the rim wall I could clearly see 3 Mile House with a light dusting of snow on the top of the toilet's roof. But no snow lower than Esplanade Sandstone, except further out in the canyon there was a tiny bit dusting the lower Supai group well above the red wall though.
Don the mule wrangler said he'd ridden down to check conditions it pretty much clears up to just light dusting of snow at the Cinch Up...granted this was all at 8am today but things can change...I'll have to go for a snowy hike into the Canyon soon. |
