I've wanted to do a short hike on this trail for about two years. Finally had the time to do it, and was really pleased to visit such a nice place.
Found a dead tarantula, frost kill, on the trail. After we reached the junction of the Cross F & Sunflower we headed south to the FSR and did some off trail excursions just to play with a map and compass. Had a pleasant encounter with some horses, not sure if they were wild, for I can't seem to remember any brands on them. They were most likely some stock from the Cross F ranch.
Nothing better than a slow hike with one of your kids and awesome weather to make it a very enjoyable day.
