| no partners | | Up and back starting from the lower trailhead. I like this trail. As the description says, it's like two hikes in one. The lower part has interesting rock formations, great views of the surrounding canyons and the Tucson basin and beyond. I swear today I could see mountain ranges in the distance I hadn't seen before. Dang windy on the ridge though. Then you drop down into the forrested canyon. Lots of snow, water flowing. Beautiful. There were icy stretches though through here, and worse again on the descent into Bear Canyon. Skidded my way down, wishing I had some spikes, but only falling once. Had lunch and then headed back. |
