| no partners | | Hiked up Marshall then down Aspen with a side trip to peak 8053. There's a well used trail that starts below Marshall Peak and goes out a southwest trending ridge (someone I talked to said Lunch Ledge). Near the end of the ridge I turned SE and headed for 8053. Most of the way was fairly easy going, just a bit of a scramble through a saddle and then up to the top. I did see some cairns in places but they seemed randomly scattered around. The top wasn't too exciting. A somewhat interesting rock formation for the high point, but no good views because of the trees.
From there I could see a less treed point to the south-east that I thought might have better views, and headed that way. Once there I saw further down the ridge large rock outcrops. Climbing on top of one gave a good view of Sabino Canyon and a nice spot for lunch. |
