The Loop itself from the Two Peaks area is 3 miles, and the Mormon Trail runs 1.2 mi back to the TH with lots of up and down. Did the Loop clockwise. A great panorama of downtown Phoenix and every major mountain in the Valley opens up along a ridge at .15 out on the Loop. Heard coyotes yipping in the valley to the northwest. Enjoyed most the stretch that comes down and crosses the sandy wash near Post #5, about a mile out. Lots of phacelia and other wildflowers here along the path, but none of the showy kind. Some little white flowers can be no larger than 1/32 of an inch. Trail was moderately busy, mostly with bikers and joggers. |

Wildflowers Observation Light Phacelia (purple) is starting to explode, but no big showy yellows and golds yet. Brittlebush should bloom soon. Saw lots of other small wildflowers along the path near Post #5. These are subtle little beauties, and, if you're moving fast, you may not see them. |
