| no partners | | Unless you are a biker or a connoisseur of graffiti, this 1.46 mi seggment will hold little interest. The AC cuts a 45-degree angle through the area, from 43 Ave and Peoria to 51 Ave and Cactus. It is the blandest stretch of the canal I've yet come across. Little activity, mostly modest residences, no special sights. Unless you're into municipal services, like Glendale's Cholla Water Treatment plant.
The graffiti ranges from elaborate, multi-colored constructions to short, simple gang symbols on walls to the south. On the northern side of the AC, there has been a concerted effort to eradicate graffiti on walls by painting over it, and thereby creating its own eyesore with this patchwork of colors. These -"artists" paint lots of stuff beside walls, even the pad of a prickly pear.
From 51 Ave, I'm now only about 4 1/2 mi from walking the the entire western part, Central to 75 Ave. |
