We solidly outperformed ourselves on this canyon too! We went from over 7 hours to just a bit over 4! Maybe we had less fun since we weren't using the pool float, but it was still exciting.

The wreath was still in place. I was glad to know its significance already.

We did less raps this year and didn't use the pool float at all. Having wetsuits meant we didn't need to use extraordinary measures to try to stay dry.

We set up one of the slides with some webbing on a meat anchor (Josh) to slow our descent and plunge. There was a shelf right at the bottom of the drop so you didn't want to hit it too hard. Then on another drop we just slid using friction techniques. Carole had the darnest time launching herself off the slide but finally took the plunge. Dunking yourself in fetid water isn't always something you rush into! At the other side of the pool you do a beached whale move to get out.

Suddenly we were at the keeper, I got the pecker ready and rapped down. There was a slick log propped up and I was able to work my way up it and get onto the saddle. I positioned the pecker with a hand line to help the others. Then I tossed my pack into the next almost dry pothole and downclimbed to the top of the anchor for the big drop. One of the guys who wasn't part of our normal group removed the hand line thinking it was unnecessary and then some of the girls needed help. The team helped each other.

The big rappel was amazing as usual. Joel went first and gave a fireman's for everyone. I was down second and took lots of pictures.

It's pretty amazing to do both Bear and Sundance in one day! Go team!
