Staying in Show Low for 2 weeks with family to escape the Phoenix heat. My son-in-law and I went for a day hike up the West Baldy trail today after a pleasant 47 mile drive from Show Low. Got to the TH at 8:00 AM. The TH parking lot was empty. It was a beautiful day with just enough clouds in the sky to keep the temperature at a comfortable level for hiking. The meadows along the West Fork of the Little Colorado were lush green with a sprinkle of yellow flowers. A much needed break from the desert scenery around Phoenix. Made it 5.6 miles up the trail to an elevation of 10300 ft before starting to fade. That was better than I had expected after being laid up for the last 7 weeks.
