| no partners | | During my four hour climb of Kings Crown Peak I realized the other two peaks I hoped to do in the same hike (Peaks 5128 & 4971) were a bit too much to pack into one hike. So at the end of that climb, with enough time for at least one more hike I decided to knock off a couple of easy ones along Forest Road 342.
As I set out on the ~5 mile drive along FR 342 little did I know that the half-hour drive would not only take longer than the upcoming hike, but almost as much energy as well. This section of the road really took a beating since I was here last year.
My designated TH was just over 500 feet from the summit of Peak 5300 so I was there within five minutes. But seeing another high-point about the same distance away that appeared slightly higher, I wondered if I was in the right spot. So I headed over there and found it was a foot lower.
But the extra jaunt was well worth it for the views down into the canyon to the west. The usual video and photos and I was back to the Cherokee for the next, even worse section of Forest Road 342.
Short hike so I didn't have enough time to get carried away with photos so I'll post them all here.
