Descriptions elsewhere point to parking in a cul-de-sac named Branding Iron Court near a City of Folsom water tank, but the landscaping in the area now prevents one from walking around the water tank to get the benchmark. Besides, I don't think the neighbors want anyone parking there. So I parked at the intersection of Carpenter Hill Road & Iron Point Road and walked up above Iron Point Road, with the housing bearing on your right. As you get near the top of the hill the first of three radio towers becomes visible, with a road ending there. Follow the road until you get to the last tower going north - a clump of rocks near the fence enclosing the radio tower has the benchmark on it.
There are pretty decent view of the Sacramento Valley from here. If it a really clear day, you should be able to see Mount Diablo across the valley.
I assume you could access the road leading up to the towers from Caversham Way, but I did not check this possibility out. |
