| partners | | Had a GREAT group of 19 folks for my AZT work event on the Arizona Backpacking Club's adopted passage 17a. This is the portion of the Alamo Canyon Passage that is north of Forest Road 4... Always a challenge getting in there as FR4 is a gnarly ugly mess of a road, and the northern access is worse (just ask Mark!).
Most hiked in 7.5 miles the first day, then hiked the 4.5 miles to the end of our passage the second day and THEN started working! AmAZing how great my folks are! We grubbed out a bunch of catsclaw, trimmed up mesquites and fixed some tread that was getting washed out. We were so efficient, we even got to knock out a few improvements to the southern portion of the passage... We're just that good!
Saturday night, I cooked fajitas for the whole crowd on our campfire...that was a fun way to impress them all. We had perfect weather and great company. Life just doesn't get any better than that! |
