| no partners | | Ninety five per cent of the time, I hike solo. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hike to, and stick around, benchmarks while I measure stuff and take a zillion photos. (Heck - Even I wouldn’t hike with me, if I didn’t have to).
There are exceptions however. A friend from my Air force flying days, comes into town every January, to get in shape for one of his ‘every February' hiking experiences. Last year, for example, he was in New Zealand, the year before that he was in the Himalayas. This February it’s South America and Antarctica.
Well, this January, he has some rehab to do on a hip prior to his February travels. He had hip replacement three months ago (due to a motorcycle accident), and wants to test his limits without overdoing it. The Dixie Min Trail and part of the Sonoran Trail seemed a good start.
All went well for him on the hike.
So, our next hike will be longer and with more elevation gain. I told him I’m going to charge him for my expert ‘rehab-therapy’, at which time he laughed - Right at his ‘therapist’. |
