| no partners | | We started at Canyon Lake with the plan to go to the 2nd Water Trail intersection and then back.
We never made it that far, due to deteriorating weather in the form of rain.
The light to moderate rain started about 15 minutes into the hike and lasted for quite a long time. The larger, smooth rocks on the trail started getting very slippery, so we shortened the journey and did a ‘180’ back to the trailhead. Some of those rain cloud formations looked both unusual and sinister.
Prior to getting soaked, I had stowed all my electronic gizmos, while my hike-mate put on a water resistant wind breaker and just smiled at me. I called him a ‘show-off’.
Of course, less than half way back to Canyon Lake, the clouds gave way to nice blue sky. Go figure. At least we got most of our planned hike done.
By the time we got back to the TH, I was dried off and Mike was into his 3rd wardrobe change.
Bottom line - We still had a good time.
We saw quite a few hikers starting out as we were hiking back. They must be much better weather forecasters then us, as I’m sure they stayed dry on their entire hike, and hiked on a now dry trail also.
I threw away most of my photos, as the dark overcast played a number on quality.
‘Photos-in-the-rain’ make for poor pics also.
The ones I did upload are medium quality at best, and only act as verification that we were on the trail at all. |
