| no partners | | Wanted to return to this area so today was the day. Looking at my previous photoset I knew it was a pretty area, but as this was one of the first hikes after my father died over 2 years ago now, I was hurting kinda badly when I did it. So I did not remember some of the nuances--
Road is pretty bad so I walked most of it. At first I wasn't sure I was in the right spot, didn't bring a map. Need high clearance 4wd and both diffs locked at a couple of spots; decomposed granite. Flowers were outrageous so I am glad I walked. Poppies; also now more of a mix of other flowers too making some carpets and some isolated stands. It was really beautiful. Water in the small white narrows but the big pool was gone! However some pools along the way, and the water flowed down much longer than I remembered. I saw two water type snakes, a falcon screamed at me ( same spot as I remember so must be a nest nearby I did not see), ravens and a vulture or two. Saw pottery and some pretty rocks. It was warm enough that wading was the name of the game today, wetting down my hat. I am so glad I returned here, it is a peaceful charming little hike, and that is what I needed today. |
