| no partners | | | Deb and I decided to check out the geophysical center of Arizona. We were heading for the top of a mesa and as we approached a stock tank two herons took off and didn't go far. We've seen ducks and other waterfowl in stock tanks, but not Great Blues. While our dog was enjoying the water I noticed what looked like an orange safety vest under the water in the center of the tank. It was about the size of an extra large pizza and by golly it seems to be moving. Then all of a sudden a 4" goldfish breached the surface much like a Blue Whale, but not quite as impressive. Now we know why Ma and Pa Heron weren't going far. I tried to take a photo of the goldfish swarm, but then realized two things. It was hard to see them and more importantly, who would care. We made it to the mesa top wandered awhile aimlessly and called it a day. Pretty hard to top the goldfish sighting. |
