The last time was a mile away from where I wanted to go and this is a pretty big state. So that being said we went back up to the mesa east of Camp Verde to quest for more Native culture and get there before Hansenaz. My GE searching showed the area to be promising, drainages, escarpments and fertile saddles for planting. I found one sherd the size of my pinkie nail, haha and that was it. Out in the middle of nowhere we came upon an electric fence and experience has told me they can suck. This was solar powered and when I opened the box to see if it was connected, I disturbed Mr. and Mrs. Deer Mouse who were comfortably snuggling in their nest until the big galoot opened the door. Sorry. Flushed a nice herd of elk with a great stag and then made sure we didn't move them toward the numerous hunting groups up there. Not a great day for Native stuff, but a great hike none the less. |
