| no partners | | Just a short climb from Forest Road 2676. Nice views.
Although planned as the first of five summits today (three pretty easy like this one) but less than a half-mile farther along FR 2676 I encountered a locked gate with a monstrous STOP sign. It threatened serious injury or death if one were to trespass.
Hmmm... so much for an easement allowing for public travel along the marked forest road.
Ok, so now to Plan B... drive south on AZ 77 to Dripping Springs Road, take that NW 3+ miles to the old Globe-Kelvin Road and take that north to begin my hike to Pasadera Mountain. (See Pasadera Mountain triplog for the next part)
BTW, if you don't know exactly where the old Globe-Kelvin Road turn is, you'll miss it... it looks just like most narrow washes along Dripping Springs Road. GPS coords are definitely a time-saver.
A few tidbits I found interesting:
On the CT 1900 Topo Map the old road is labeled Globe-Troy Road.
It ran between Globe and Troy, which is just before the mid-point of crossing west over the Dripping Springs Mountains.
It continued on to Kelvin along Kane Springs Canyon.
On the CT 1930 Topo Map the old road is labeled Globe-Kelvin Road.
It ran between Globe and Kelvin, passing through Troy and continued west over the Dripping Springs Mountains.
It continued on to Kelvin along Cane Springs Canyon. (Note the name change from Kane to Cane.)
