We stayed at a B&B in South West Harbor in/near Acadia NP for three nights. I would highly recommend South West Harbor as a place to stay when visiting Acadia National Park. It has a picturesque little village with several good restaurants and without the crowds of Bar Harbor. We only had two full days to explore the park and only got out to hike on one day. It was raining and views were socked in with low clouds on the other day. There are so many places to hike in this park but we decided on the Ocean Path because of the spectacular views of the ocean and rugged coast line. The Park Loop Road parallels this trail and has parking available at all the major view points but you see so much more hiking the trail. It's an easy well groomed trail with many short spurs out to the cliffs that line the shore. |
