| partners | | Had the pleasure of showing off the Catalina highcountry to Joe and Preston today on a pieced together shuttle route taking much of the best the Catalinas have to offer.
We started off early on the impressive Aspen Draw trail up to Radio Ridge. From there we wandered over to the Meadow trail and then the Mt. Lemmon trail and followed it down, past the Sutherland out to the edge of the Wilderness of Rocks. Showed off some of the better views along the way.
The Meadow trail is a little gem that can be taken as an alternative to the beginning of the Mt. Lemmon trail. I cannot recommend this little leg enough.
We came back on the Wilderness of Rocks trail, and got pretty hot out in the lower sections. To our delight there was still water in Lemmon Creek...  The mid-to-upper reaches of the trail were pure heaven.
From Marshall Saddle we scooted over on the Marshall Gulch trail marveling at the great creek views along the way.
Finally we wrapped it up by cutting over on the Sunset trail...which turns out to be a great little trail offering unique highcountry canyon views.
What a great day we had today! Rock on Wilderness of Rocks. |
