| no partners | | I enjoyed this hike. My husband hated it. The only reason he even joined me on this was because I had pointed out to him a few weeks ago that we had not spent a day together in six and half years, and he decided to try and make up for it. He's not exactly a hiker, but is in pretty good shape, so he was insulted at the first few shorter trails I had suggested. After awhile, I had gotten annoyed and chose this one. As a result, I was treated to 8+ hours of:
"How much longer?"
"I'm hot."
"How far have we gone?"
"I just swallowed a bug."
"I used to be in such great shape."
"My back/hip/knee/foot hurts."
"Stop saying this is easy."
"Can I use your poles?"
"I'm cold."
"I thought there would be benches up here."
"Do you realize I'm forty-nine? I should not be doing this."
"Wait a second, you can DRIVE to the top? Why are we walking?"
"Did you bring extra water?"
And on and on. Anyway, the weather was really nice the entire day, plus we saw an amazing sunset on the drive home. Saw a couple of deer, one baby rattler, a tarantula, and tons of squirrels. |
