Parked at the Twin Falls TH (for the Mount Washington hike) and instead of going to Mount Washington, took a left (East) once we hit the junction with the John Wayne Pioneer Trail. The short road to the parking lot had some snow as did the parking log but it was pretty compacted down so I think pretty much any car could make it. As others have noted, it looks like after the last big snow somebody plowed the Pioneer trail. At the start there was a little snow and then snow covered for the entire trail we walked. We brought our snowshoes, hoping to get in some work with those but with the plowed trail and compacted snow, we didn't need them. We did just our micro spikes as the parking lot was icy and so were some parts of the trail. We walked about 3.5 miles east, just past a sign junction with Garcia road. Pretty windy today but the views across the I-90 valley were great. Blue skies and snow covered mountains. Made it back t North Bend in time to catch a late lunch and watch the Seahawks escape with a victory!
