While this hike provides a good amount of shade, it was still damn hot today. We hiked from the Middle Fork trail head to the next big bridge near the Dingford Creek trail head. The road in was in the best shape we've seen it -- and now the last mile or two is paved. Going to be nice when it's completed next year although it will probably mean more people on the trails. Today there was a mountain bike crew doing some maintenance but there is still a lot of overgrown areas on the trail between the campsite (roughly 3.5 miles in) until the falls (about 5.5. miles in). But the water is beautiful and it's nice and cool. Several people were swimming near the starting trail head and while we didn't swim, our feet did appreciate the cool bath at the end of a long day of hiking. |
