We were surprised it looked as good as it did considering the recent fires in that area. We continued on about another half mile to a great viewpoint of Mt. Rainier and Crystal Lake. Definitely worth the little extra effort. For once saw a good deal of wildlife. Passed two deer on 410 outside Enumclaw and saw a mountain goat way up above Sheep Lake (maybe he didn't know it was Sheep Lake and not Goat Lake). Saw lots of chipmunks, a grouse and several varieties of birds as well along the hike. Couldn't ask for a better day out on the trail. |
