| partners | | On a recent trip Petrophile and I discussed an obscure site we were both interested in - some specific geoglyphs, largish rock patterns in the desert. I did a little research and today we headed out to find them.
Nice walking on a cool May morning and we found them where expected. It's a little hard to know what to make of them: they look like they could have been made by some inspired desert artist yesterday but my understanding is that experts believe they are very old. I'm still looking for a definitive reference.
That was about a 4mi walk and my partner had an idea to visit some petroglyph sites he knew that were on the way home. We followed back roads to seldom visited hills along the Gila and there were plenty of glyphs there. Nice day out. |
