| no partners | | I had just arrived into town and wanted to do a nice easy hike that provided great views so I had this childhood favorite in mind.
This is my 3rd time atop Fern Mountain, I grew up in Flagstaff and as a member of the Coconino HS Football team we had the honor of staying at Camp Colton every summer. The purpose was to get in shape and be conditioned before the season started and the great thing about it is that we had the opportunity to run all around the area surrounding Camp Colton.
So I remember one day we were forced to run there from CC and then proceeded to jog up Fern Mountain were we were received a hearty heroic speech from our legend of a coach Ol Bulldog Turner!
So since then it's always been kind of a place that brings back great memories and holds a lot of value to me. It's also a sweet vantage point with great 360° views of the surrounding area so that only adds to this little hills appeal.
This place just makes me feel at home... |

Autumn Foliage Observation Substantial
Westside of the peaks were popping with that golden glow! Such a vibrant gold with a bit of lightly tinted orange and red aspens here and there. |
