Reagan has been begging me to take her back to Horton Creek, so that's where we went today. We got started a little after 9:00 to a nearly empty parking lot. The plan was to go until the kids got tired, then we would turn around, I assumed we'd make it a little over halfway. The kids had fun playing the entire way up, and seemed to be full of energy, and before I knew it, we were less than half a mile from the spring. At that point, I told them we'd go to the end before turning around.

At the junction with Highline, my kids managed to break the already broken trail sign. I put it back together (at least until the next gust of wind) and yelled at my kids in one of my finer parenting moments. As luck would have it, Dallin & Nick appeared off Highline. My kids should thank them for showing up at that moment, because I wasn't finished with the yelling. We all walked over to the spring, and chatted for a few minutes before parting ways.

The kids had a snack at the spring, then found a friendly dog and played fetch with him for a while before we headed back. The walk back went pretty quickly with just a couple of short snack breaks. We got back to the car just after 3:00. Great weather today, I wore shorts and was never too warm, and actually cold at times. We saw very few people along the trail. The parking lot was nearly empty when we arrived in the morning, and only about a quarter full when we left. Fun day with the kids, and it was their longest hike to date.
