| no partners | | This quick loop up to the “fins” of the Superstition massif is a nice hike with a little of everything.
I knew it was going to be a hot one, so I started before 6am. It was actually cool in the morning air when I started out from the Crosscut Trailhead. I finished up right before 8am and it was already starting to feel "hot". Ah, summertime hiking in the Supes...
Right off, I came across a nice group of mule deer just before the Crosscut Trail meets the Treasure Loop. They kinda looked at me for a while, then they all took off hopping away. Amazing site to see for sure.
The turn off on the Treasure Loop is the beginning of the climb up. You’ll see the Praying Hands formation to the left of the mountain. It’s a little steep to get up to the saddle area, but the trail is well marked.
I was looking forward to sitting in the “rock chair” on the saddle area, but alas, it’s been converted into a giant pile of rocks now.
This one is a quick and easy workout. Less than 5 miles, over 900 ft aeg, and loads of scenery. |
