| no partners | | I set the alarm clock for 345am and decided to let mother nature choose my hike. With the slight dip in temps, I was actually thinking about heading up Carney Springs and visiting the Three Sisters. I was driving down Peralta Road, still not sure what trail I would take. I let the clouds tell me. With the summer monsoons going, there is a usually a nice collection of clouds in the morning. It was looking like the clouds on the eastern horizon near Miners Needle would be a good spot to catch the sunrise. So, I headed to the Peralta Trailhead.
I got to the trailhead about 5am and the clouds above were still red and orange. I turned to Bluff Springs Trail and made it up to the top of Cardiac Hill and started looking for some interesting foreground to match up with the beautiful cloud show. Nice and still and quiet at sunrise. The waking up early is not very fun, but I am always happy I did it afterward.
After the color show was over, I hiked back down the hill and started up my favorite trail – the Peralta Trail. The cloud cover kept the sun and the temperatures down all the way up. But, with the large storm we had the night before, it was unusually humid. I think I could have rung out a gallon of sweat from my shirt if I tried.
I just went to the Fremont Saddle, sat a while, had a snack and took a few pictures. Then, back down I went. I took my time and took in all the beauty that this amazing trail offers. A great day for a hike! |
