I have been looking for a place to take some sunrise pictures at Saguaro Lake. I have been up the peaks at Stewart Mountian before, but I wanted to get a little closer to the lake. I thought about climbing up Peak 2433. But, I noticed this little gem when I was searching for hikes/routes on HAZ. It turned to be exactly what I was looking for!

I only did about 1/2 of the loop. I made it as far as the Bush Highway, but I will be back to complete this one and hit the ovens and Peak 2433 as well. The yellow cliffs overlooking the lake off of Butcher Jones Road also look interesting. I will have to take a look over there in the future too.

I was not sure if it was ok to park at the end of Stewart Dam Road, but I followed the triplogs of others. Finding the trail was pretty easy and it was well worn and developed. The desert around the lake is awesome. Very lush with vegetation for sure.

The petroglyphs were right off the trail and easy to find. I stopped there on the way back. I was searching for a place to capture the sunrise. I went off trail when it turned towards the Bush Highway and found some nice places to set up.

I had limited time this morning, so I had to cut it short. The only thing about hiking around the dams along the Salt that slightly irks me is all the power lines that always seem to block the beautiful scenery. But, that is what dams do, so I can live with them.

The temperature was nice at sunrise, but it was a little sticky out today. The sun is up later now and it's not as hot. The end is near! The cooler temps are almost here!
