| no partners | | I have been out of it for the last two weeks so I thought I would start out with a short hike to kind of kick the tires and see how I feel. Started really early at about sunrise and as usual the Tucson Mountains are spectacular in early morning. Started out at the trail head along Kinney Road but followed the wash instead of the trail, only took me a couple hundred yards to figure out my mistake and made the appropriate corrections. My Gps route shows I finished the loop and then headed back up the King Canyon Trail to where I made the correction and then returned to the Trail Head. I did this so I could get a correct GPS route for the entire King Canyon Trail (it's an OCD thing). Great little hike but I recommend doing it early morning, something about the early morning light and the desert colors. I suppose at sunset would be nice too.
Not quite up to par to get my usual 10+ mile hikes in yet, hopefully in another week or so. I fell once on an off trail excursion to check out one of the mines. It seems I didn't pick up my foot high enough to clear a rock. It's funny how when you know you are going to take a tumble time seems to go really slow and I remember not wanting to put my hand out because that would of really cut them up so I just did a 90 degree turn and landed on my but pack and one elbow. No real damage done except to my ego. No one was around to see this so it wasn't too embarrassing. |
